Crème Conferences awarded hotel contract for World Championships

Monday 20 June 2016

Crème Conferences were today announced as the accommodation partner for the TOTAL BWF World Championships 2017 in Glasgow next summer.

The Milton Keynes-based company will handle all the official accommodation requirements for players, officials and fan groups when the World Championships come to Glasgow’s Emirates Arena from 21-27 August next year.

It will be the third time Glasgow has staged a World Badminton Championship, having hosted the 1997 World Individual Championship and Sudirman Cup mixed team championship and also the 2007 Sudirman Cup.

Crème Conferences have vast experience in providing accommodation services for the sport, having worked with BADMINTON England on major events, including for many years the Yonex All England Championships in Birmingham as well as the 2015 Para-Badminton World Championships at Stoke Mandeville.

Today’s appointment is the first of a series of partnerships across a range of services that will be required in staging a major World event.

Anne Smillie, Chief Executive of BADMINTONscotland and Tournament Director for the World Championships, said: “We know Crème Conferences have a strong reputation in our sport following their work with BADMINTON England over the last 12 years, particularly at the Yonex All England Championships. As a result they have the advantage of already knowing many of the team officials and their requirements and this kind of knowledge will be invaluable.

“They will be handling the hotel arrangements at this November’s Scottish Open Grand Prix at the Emirates (23-27 November) and that will be their platform to build strong relationships with the major hotels in Glasgow in readiness for the World Championships.”

Crème Conferences have been in business for 12 years and director Sarah Dale said:  “We are thrilled to be awarded this contract and look forward to playing our part in delivering a successful event.”

Director Annette Clare added: "Our expertise within the Hotel Industry and working with other sporting organisations makes this an ideal event for Crème Conferences to manage."
